Viewster Brings Streaming Video Catalog To Samsung Devices Worldwide

Viewster has been making some good moves lately and perhaps the Pièce de résistance is today’s announcement that sees them teaming up with Samsung, worldwide, on multiple device platforms including connected TVs, tablets, mobile phones and more.

Viewster’s on-demand video application will be carried by Samsung devices on all platforms and in all territories. That’s a pretty major deal.

Viewster’s on demand catalog of movies and TV shows will be available through Samsung Apps for 2010 and 2011 Smart TVs, as well as on Blu-ray players in over 120 countries. On top of that, Viewster will be offered on Smart TVs and Blu-ray players within Samsung’s ‘Explore 3D’ 3D Video on Demand service and in ‘Your Video’, which delivers recommendations based on a user’s viewing history.

It will also be on new Samsung smartphones using Android and Bada 2.0 like the Galaxy and Wave as well as the Galaxy tablets.

Now, like Samsung’s approach, this is great because it’s a single account, a single login, across all devices. While you might not use a connected TV and Blu-ray player you could feasibly have a TV, smartphone and tablet and this could bring streaming video to all of them with one account.

You can even start watching something, pause and pick it up on another device later.

Samsung customers will be able to choose to watch movies from Viewster either free with ads or as paid rentals.

As far as I’m concerned this is a major coup for both Samsung and Viewster. I have long believed that Samsung has the best roadmap in regards to screen convergence and device variety. Now, with more deals like this it begins to build in a strong value add for the Samsung platform. Who doesn’t want one login on all devices for all your streaming video needs? Is something like this enough to get you to buy more than one Samsung device?
