How-To Upload A YouTube Fan Finder Video

In this week’s Creator’s Tip, we are going to walk you through the process of uploading a Fan Finder video, or Channel Ad, to YouTube. The YouTube Fan Finder feature has been live for a couple of weeks and it’s the site’s way of offering free advertising for your channel. All you need to do is create an ad, or upload footage that you think would be suitable, and YouTube will promote that for you in the shape of a free TrueView ad across the site. This should help gain you exposure and introduce your content to potential new viewers.

Creating A Fan Finder Video For YouTube

Let’s assume that you have already created a channel ad or have a video that you can use. Just follow these easy steps that will take you through the process of submitting that ad to YouTube.

#1. Sign into your account and go to YouTube’s Fan Finder page (by the way, the .PDF mentioned in the video can be downloaded from here.)

#2. Click on the “Submit Your Channel Ad” button.

#3. Agree to the T&C’s (because you won’t get very far without doing so) and then select your channel ad:

#4. You can search for the video in the box that appears or you can search for it by URL if you have a lot of content to trawl through.

#5. You’ll see the ad you selected appear, and you’ll also be given an option to upload another ad. This is handy for A/B testing or conversion research.

#6. Once you have confirmed your ad and it’s been up and running for a few days, you can access the analytics data for the ad via Channel Settings > Fan Finder:
