iphone logoRight now I am in a  session that is showcasing local search apps for the iPhone. Again, some of you may be wondering why the coverage of local search and local interactive media.  Well, in all honesty, I believe that local search + online video is the next wave in terms of online advertising for SMBs.  So, it is important to keep ahead of local search, search, mobile, etc…  Hope you all agree.

If you saw our post from this morning, you will have seen that ComScore presented some great research about the opportunity for mobile and the growth in iPhone market share since the launch of 3G.

First up is YellowPages.com who was one of the first to launch an app for the iPhone – released back in Oct. 07.  Honestly, not that exciting.  Basically an app that allows you to search their directory for local businesses.  They also have partnered with Zvents for events information. The one thing that they have that is cool, is a planning option where you can save events, and business listings to a plan….  For the future, they plan to integrate more personalization.

Eventful is up next.  Eventful claims to maintain the worlds largest collection of events and event listings.  You are required to log-in if you want to use the eventful iPhone app.  With their app, you can track and share events, get email alerts tailored to your interests, and use the iPhone’s GPS to locate events happening near you.  What is interesting here is that they are stating that more than 75% of those that used the iPhone app, have visited their website as well.

Internet Broadcasting – NowLocal – Location based news aggregator app for the iPhone.  That’s it.  Basically shows you news from their network of publishers based off your location…

Gosh – Wish there was more to do with video…

TheFind iPhone app is a product location based search app.  It will show you all the retail stores in your area and any products that match your search.  You can then look at each result to see which store has the best price for the product you are searching for.
