Yidio.com is the second website released by 2ten Media LLC. Their first website, SportsSnipe.com, was launched 8 months ago with sports news from over 4,000 sources.
“With information being in such abundance, hyper-aggregation is the future,” said Adam Eatros, President and co-founder. “Look for great things to come from 2ten Media.”
They are “…the first to market localization technology for videos”. You can preview this by going to their site and clicking on the identified location in the top right hand corner of the homepage.
They automatically detect (I assume by IP, which is not always best) the users location and display local video results within a radius of the user’s location.
It appears that they are using the metadata to identify videos as “local” including by serving results with “city name” within the metadata, titles, descriptions, and tags. It would be interesting to know in the future if they expand this to include Yotube geo-coordinates, and other technologies for labeling videos as local. Not sure how they determine radius at this point.
“It was our goal with Yidio.com to provide an all-in-one solution for users to find and watch any video on the internet quickly and easily,” said Brandon Eatros, CEO and co-founder. “We wanted to simplify the lives of our users while producing a value-added service that would be beneficial to everyone.”
The site is very well designed and offers users plenty of video discovery features that make finding the video you are looking for, or not looking for, pretty simple. You can browse by category, channel, featured videos, popular videos, “local” videos, etc… Of course, you can always use their video search box, powered by Truveo. Check it out – Yidio
