On June 28, a movie called Some Girls will be released on Vimeo On Demand, which will be the first feature film to be offered exclusively on the new service. Vimeo On Demand has been offering lots of shorts and documentaries since it was launched, so it will be interesting in a few weeks to see how a feature film performs.
Some Girls stars Kristen Bell, Adam Brody, Jennifer Morrison, Zoe Kazan, Mia Maestro, and Emily Watson, written by Neil LaBute, and directed by Daisy von Scherler Mayer (Party Girl). We will be seeing this more and more over time: movies trying to find an audience through alternative means. Vimeo On Demand just happens to be in the mix now, and it’s a nice addition to their lineup as they attempt to further legitimize their new pay service.
Some Girls Makes Its Debut on Vimeo On Demand on June 28
The film made its debut at SXSW, and it will be released day-and-date in theaters with Vimeo On Demand. That means it will have a limited run in theaters, but it will be available at the same time online. As with all Vimeo On Demand features, the production company behind Some Girls, Leeden Media, will see 90 percent of the revenue generated from this film.

It will be interesting to see how this movie does on Vimeo On Demand. Can a Hollywood production make it on this platform? We’ll soon see. For more about the movie, you can go to the official site.
Meanwhile, Kristen Bell has been all over the internet lately with a bunch of interesting projects, namely a Kickstarter campaign that launched a Veronica Mars movie. So her name further legitimizes a project looking for an audience online.
