Dutch media giant Endemol, the company behind the ‘Big Brother’ phenomenon, has confirmed a $40 Million investment in a range of video channel platforms such as YouTube, Yahoo, Dailymotion and AOL. The new venture, Endemol Beyond, will invest in a network of local and international premium channels with the focus on “high-end original productions, engaging leading talent and partnering with international brands”. The company currently works with around 400 global broadcasters and they already have over 100 YouTube channels. With ‘Beyond’, they plan to expand their reach within the U.S., Europe and the U.K. and also branch out into new markets.

Endemol, the world’s largest production company, launched the Endemol Beyond division in Germany in 2012 and they have already established strong relationships with Yahoo, Sony, YouTube, MacDonalds and Mazda. Georg Ramme, who headed the German brand, will move into the role of M.D. for Endemol Beyond International.

Endemol president, Tim Hincks stated that:

Endemol is more than just a great television company; we’re a global content creator across all platforms, and we want to further invest in our own creativity and IP to stay innovative. This scaling-up of our online digital video ambition is one of the most exciting journeys Endemol has embarked on and we have the international network, the talent and the imagination to make it happen worldwide.
