Dutch media giant Endemol, the company behind the ‘Big Brother’ phenomenon, has confirmed a $40 Million investment in a range of video channel platforms such as YouTube, Yahoo, Dailymotion and AOL. The new venture, Endemol Beyond, will invest in a network of local and international premium channels with the focus on “high-end original productions, engaging leading talent and partnering with international brands”. The company currently works with around 400 global broadcasters and they already have over 100 YouTube channels. With ‘Beyond’, they plan to expand their reach within the U.S., Europe and the U.K. and also branch out into new markets.
Endemol, the world’s largest production company, launched the Endemol Beyond division in Germany in 2012 and they have already established strong relationships with Yahoo, Sony, YouTube, MacDonalds and Mazda. Georg Ramme, who headed the German brand, will move into the role of M.D. for Endemol Beyond International.
