This week’s creator’s tip reminds you guys why it’s important to address your customer’s deepest fears, pains and needs.

Hey guys, my name is Tim Schmoyer and welcome to another week of creator’s tip. Every week we just give you guys some how-to’s and tips and advice and ideas for you producers who are generating content for online video. This week, we are going to feature one of the other readers who submitted their video tip. Steven Washer submitted his creator’s tip for a recent contest and we’d like to share it with you guys. He talks about why it’s important to know what your customers pains, fears and needs are and why it’s important to address them using online video. Here’s Steven.

Most people think that video is about, video marketing is about communication and it isn’t, it’s about infection. But the virus you’re looking to transmit isn’t a simple passing of the video from screen to screen. It’s the passing of an idea from heart to heart, but how do you do that? Well before I give you my tip, let me ask you a question. Would you rather have a million people watching that video that you took hours to put together who will never be your customer, not even in your market, or a few thousand or even hundred highly targeted potential clients who see you as their only real choice?

So you see, today, the lion’s share of business goes to those companies that understand potential client’s pain better than they do themselves. And when those people see that you’ve taken the time to get to know their problems and when you can demonstrate how you can solve them and when they can look you in the eye and get a clearer picture of who you are, hear the passion in your voice, then and only then will even a single view do you any good at all.

So my tip is to directly address your customer’s deepest fears and hopes because as it turns out, there’s one medium, one tool that can help you do this better than any other. To infect more of the right people than you ever dreamed.
